Family learning can set the stage for a host of benefits, including opportunities for social skill building, relationship building, knowledge sharing, and much more!
- Relevance & Cultural responsiveness - Family connections allow youth to draw connections between NASA engineering and the engineering in their daily lives and communities. This allows youth to bring their own knowledge to the activities and enter into or ground the learning in ways that the educator cannot.
- Belonging - Learning of ways their own cultures and families have used engineering principles throughout time to solve problems creates a sense of belonging in STEM.
- Family Time & Relationship building - Families are busy! But these short discussion prompts provide easy ways for families to interact, communicate and share stories with one another. This helps to strengthen relationships and deepen understanding.
