Background

Lava flows happen when hot liquid rock erupts to the surface and flows like a river. Lava flows can range from small to large and slow to fast. Lava flows burn, knock down, and bury anything in their way. Because lava flows are so hot and dense, it is almost impossible to stop them. The best thing is to get out of the way.
